Relief, climate, rivers and lakes:

Baia Mare City is situated in the central part of Maramures historical region, in a low depression relief area represented by the beautiful and extended Depression of Maramures. The average of the altitude where the city is situated is 230 m height and the climate in Baia Mare City is temperate-continental of hill.

Due to the fact that the city is situated in a safe area, protected by the peaks of the neighboring mountains, the temperatures are relatively constant during summer and during winter as well. Summers are warm, sometimes cool, without extreme temperatures and winters are often mild. The annual average of the temperature is 9-10° C and the rainfall is 1.000 mm per year. Baia Mare City is crossed by Sasar River and Firiza Lake is nearby.

Importance, tourism and what you can see and do in Baia Mare City:

The surroundings of Baia Mare City and also the city itself are of a rare beauty. Maramures and its capital, have a special history, rich and interesting in the same time, leaving the impression to any tourist who come here, that time stopped for at least few hundreds of years. Scenic roads, museums, memorial houses, historical monuments, but especially wooden churches or monasteries included in UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be always there to greet you warmly.
